About Us

About Carlmont Space

Here at Carlmont Space, we are dedicated to designing, building, and launching our school’s first-ever satellite. Founded by students passionate about aerospace engineering, computer science, and space exploration, our mission is to make real-world space technology accessible to high schoolers.

Our Mission

We believe that learning space science shouldn't be limited to textbooks. Our goal is to give students hands-on experience across the entire lifecycle of an orbital mission—from initial trajectory design and system architecture to hardware assembly, testing, and ground station operations.

What We Do

Building a space program requires multidisciplinary problem solving. Our team works across several core engineering focus areas:

  • Orbital Mechanics & Mission Analysis: Modeling satellite orbits, coverage windows, and ground station line-of-sight analysis.
  • Systems & CubeSat Engineering: Designing onboard avionics, power distribution, thermal control systems, and structural frames.
  • Software & Ground Support: Programming flight software, sensor telemetry processing, and building ground stations to communicate with hardware.
  • Payload Development: Engineering specialized payloads, from science experiments to optical cameras and experimental technology demonstrators.

Get Involved

Whether you are an aspiring aerospace engineer, a programmer, a physics enthusiast, or just passionate about space exploration, there is a place for you on the team. No prior space systems experience is required, just curiosity and a drive to build something extraordinary.

  • Meetings: Join us every other week on Fridays in B2, starting on 10/16.
  • Mentorship & Outreach: If you would like to sponsor or mentor this club as a parent, please reach out to [email protected] for more information.
